Pooh The Movie!!!!

Abigail's first full feature film. Yep. Pooh. And I must say, even with a baby next to me squirming and on the verge of crying, and trying to hold Abby who flipped back in the regular seat because she's a little small, I laughed out loud a number of times. And Abby has a new crush on (say it at the top of your highest voice) "Christopher Robin!!!"

Here are the kids that went. Thanks to the Bownes for supplying all movie-food (chocolate, drinks, pirate booty and thank God no "LIP GLOTH"!)

We were a real troop -- with two gentlemen, two little ladies and one little man plus mommies. Whew. It was great. I mean, for $2/ticket, what's not to love?!

'Scuse Me, Mom.

A friend (and great photographer, blogger and angel food ice cream cake maker) came over a few weeks ago. I forgot to post these lovely little pics of Ford. At first I hated that the binkie is in the picture but you know what? It's where we're at right now. Hurray for the binkie. It gives me sanity. And hurrah for Hillary. Thanks for holding Ford during the dinner melee. It's obvious he never wanted to leave your shoulder.

I hear "scuse me, mom...I need to tell you something" about 900 times a day. Okay, I'm exaggerating. Maybe it's only 878 times. Either way, half of those times when I say "yes?" it's followed by, "um...um...(long, long pause as she tries to think of something new to ask me seeing that she forgot the original question) um.... Is Bob the tomato going to come to my birthday party?!" or some kind of madness like that. Tonight was different. Tonight was special. Tonight was classic. Grant and I were doing some dishes and we heard (as she's brushing her teeth but happens to be walking through the family room where an old David Letterman is on) "scuse me Mr. Man on the TV, I need to tell you something." Whether she was talking to David Letterman or Paul Rudd, I can't be sure but I'm dying to know what she wanted to ask 'em.

Girls Lunch!

We had a big, fat girls lunch (okay, Ford was there, too) this week. I had an insanely good salad and Abby got to sit next to Gracie, completely ruin one of her "what are those called, mom?!" (lipglosses) by shoving her finger into it and rubbing it all over her face, her cheeks, her nose... and borrowing a pair of glasses. Great fun for all!

And Lily came over for a dance party/girls lunch, too. Hearing "All The Single Ladies" sung by The Chipmunks was Abby's favorite.

Gum

Gum. Have you tried explaining gum to a 2 year old?
Me: "It's for chewing. Then you spit it out."
Her: "Mama? Why you spit it out?"
Me: "Because it's gum. You don't eat it."
Her: "Mama? Why you don't eat it if you put it in your mouth?"
Thank you, Grant for introducing our child to the fascinating world of gum. May she never see another piece as long as we all shall live. Amen.

Abby is drawn to water. Mostly because she wants to drink it -- in her sand table, in the bathtub, in fountains. What is it? The girl isn't thirsty, let me tell you. All the potty training had me giving her tons of liquid in order to "try" day and night. Why the fascination with drinking dirty water? I'll let you know in about 3 years when she can explain it to me.

Pomp & Circumstance

The angels are singing.
The heavens are opening.
Abby seems (should I say it outloud?!) potty trained.
I plan on taking her little potty with us in the car for the next month... but being at home we haven't had any accidents for a few days. Hallelujah!

(I swear I just heard a teradactyl outside our house. This living in the canyon business is crazy!)

Our little Ford just couldn't pass up sporting a true Ford onesie. Truth be told, I bought this pre-Abigail when we were trying to have a child. We were almost at the point of thinking it might not happen for us. And the name Ford was not on our minds. Not in the slightest. I love when God has amazing, other plans.

And Abby's book of the week (again) is...

If I Had A Boat...

I love that Lyle Lovett song. If you haven't heard it, be ashamed that you've been living under a musical rock and go listen to it.

Since we haven't been leaving the house much with all of this potty training, we've been coming up with some interesting (not really) games to pass the time. Here is Abby's boat. She's wearing her fisherman's hat and her wand is her fishing pole.

And doesn't every fisherman need some books, a baby doll and things to snuggle with? Yes. Yes they do.

and, praise the Lord, we finally have undies that fit.

Poop!

Sweet Auntie Emi stopped over today. Abby looooooooves her. Wouldn't stop talking to her. At her. With her. Talking, talking, talking.

And here's the poop clean up on aisle 7 that occurred while Emi was here -- one pair of pants (mine), one onesie (ford's), one burp cloth and one shirt (mine). All. covered. in. poop. That glorious yellow super slimy poop. Yes. It was everywhere. Oxyclean to the rescue.

And, here is the "poop" station (for Abby) as we try to potty train. Books in order to hang out and take our time...and extra undies!

Here are my reasons for potty training (other than the fact that Abby tells me almost every time she goes numero uno or dos):

1. i want to.
2. i want to.
3. i want to.
4. i'm tired of buying diapers.
5. i'm tired of changing poopy diapers.
6. i want to.

Hows that? I want to. Not sure if Abby does...And the key to any successful potty training is "waiting till the child is ready"... so i'm not holding out tons of hope. Bob the Tomato fruit snacks hold lots of bargaining power, however. That, and lots of prayer.

353. a fairly uneventful night of sleep
354. a car with crazy great a/c
355. a whole slew of people looking for tiny undies

Panties!

As I mentioned the other day, we finally went shopping for big girl panties. (Side note: Those of you who know me well will be shocked that I use the word "panties." I hate that word. But when it is in reference to little girls, the word seems to fit. So sue me. I've changed. But I still -and always will- wear underwear. There. Now you know.) This meant driving to the next town over (hello, Glendale!) to go to the H&M to find little girl size 1-2. I can't find tiny panties anywhere else (smaller than size 2). Go ahead. Look. Online. In stores. And lemme know. It's tough being tiny, I tell you. So, off we went and there were lots of "yes, mom" and "okay, mom" and "sure, mom" and "thank you, mom" all morning in anticipation. The girl can turn on the charm. She was pretty excited for someone who won't commit to going only in the potty. Hence, the panties. Hoping they will help!

We parked and were in and out of that place in less than 15 minutes. And for the Americana, this is a feat (not to be confused with "feet" and Abby's new favorite book)! Once we left, all she could talk about was how she put her hands in the fountain and someone came over and told her "not to do that, please." Which left her feeling like this:

Update on bookcamp potty training tomorrow!

349. malted chocolate chip cookies
350. oxyclean

Recuperation

Somehow, someway, the photo I had planned for today disappeared off of my phone (meaning, "someone" got a hold of my phone and erased it.) Abby was commiserating with me -- and walked around with flesh colored tape covering a piece of gauze on her nose all morning. I had some nose surgery a bit ago and I've been recovering. Both Grandmothers were here to help and boy, did I need it! When the doctor tells you not to lift anything, I'm not sure if he knows what he's asking of a parent with two under 2.25! But out that measly little non-cancerous growth had to come....and so...while I was busy trying not to do anything strenuous (which pretty much leaves doing the dishes which neither grandma allowed me to do), Abby was...

giving air kisses since Germs Aren't for Sharing:

blowing bubbles like a pro:

cooling off her feet in the pool:

washing her shoes in the pool:

deciding to go for it and get everything wet...

and washing her dress in the pool (on extremely dirty cycle):

To top it off, she and grandma made a fruit pie. YUM.

and....Abby's favorite book of the week is (finally!) this.

Fordy found...

his thumb!

After getting awfully quite on the floor (and attempting to roll over), i saw his eyes fluttering shut while he sucked his thumb. Maybe this means more self-soothing at 3am!

Today Abby asked me, "Mom? When is bible study?" Music to my ears! You wouldn't know by this picture that she wants fall to arrive... she's still knee deep in summer love.

Chairs & Shoes

Abby loves watching the Esther Veggie Tales video. Especially the part where the "crazy lady" barks. Yep. A lady singing about dogs actually barks. Fascinating for a two year old.

Abby now wears a size 5 shoe. I know. Still tiny. But she's wearing some pretty sweet little shoes from target these days. And of course, crocs are still the biggest hit.

And the big news? The really big news? She's been sitting at the table and giving the high chair the high sign. See ya later, baby chair! Abby's moved to the big table.

So...since I never take his picture, here are a few....just "because!"

"Sush"

Abby's play on words continues. We went to "sush" for the first time -- Sushi! She loved the veggie roll. I loved the Ikea high chair that cleans up nice and isn't all "restaurant dirty."

Grandmama got Abby a spectacular gift recently -- Bob, Larry & Laura in stuffed form. Holy. Moly.

Until Red tore them apart when we left one night. I had to whip out the sewing kit before dawn the next morning when the little lady would wake up, asking for them. Those veggies will never be the same again.

And Fordy says, "hit me with your best shot." He's now grabbing things and going to bed early at night. Wahoo!

And when it was time to say goodbye, Pop Pop got a big hug :
